My Wish For You

My Wish For You

I recently saw this “pin” on Pinterest (yes – I have an addiction) and I instantly thought of my nephew and baby niece.  This is exactly what I want for their lives and for them to know that the “someone” who loves them (ALWAYS! NO MATTER WHAT!) is their Auntie Jaymee.

Thinking about it more (like 2 seconds more) this is what I wish for everyone.

Because I feel this way 99% of the time…

Latest obsession

My latest obsession is wildly outrageous feather skirts.  Probably because I’m a wildly outrageous girl when it come to what I wear…and let’s be honest – - how I live my life ;)

I pulled these images from Pinterest.  Enjoy!!

Contrary to popular belief, I actually do have the ability to dress down and look casual.  But my casual look will ALWAYS be girly  :)

A Moment of Thanks

16 Nov

I know it’s been a while since you’ve heard from me and for that I apologize.  But now that I have a moment to sit and reflect on EVERYTHING going on in my life I find it is extremely necessary to take a quiet moment to be grateful for the amazing blessing I have:  my  amazing friends, my incredible job and my beautiful family.

Even Women’s Health Magazine says that people who count their blessings sleep better, feel more satisfied & have higher self-esteem.

So ask this of yourself every single day:

And please share! I’d like to know what makes you truly thankful :)

Helping Community Through Sharing

1 Oct

I felt the need to re-post this blog post written by an amazing woman who I am humbled to call a friend.  She’s sweet, kind, fun, and passionate.  Amanda Akin is a business owner at an AMAZING restaurant called Pintxo in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood.  This is her plea for safety in what is becoming one of Seattle’s more hostile neighborhoods.  I encourage you all to share her story in hopes that we can help create a safer community for all!

White Party 2011 – The Sequel

31 Aug

It should come as no surprise for me to tell you that my favorite color is white. I attended my second big White Party of the year this past Friday. Luckily this party was a bit closer to home and there were more females with whom I could talk outfits and shoes.

Mollie and I dressed up in our bright whites and headed out to Matthews Estate winery in Woodinville, WA.  The party was hosted by our dear friends Bryan Otis & Jeff Otis owners of Matthews Estate.

What an amazing party! There was a sea of white as far as the eye could see, the fun music kept the crowd dancing all night and the Matthews Estate wine flowed!  Mollie and I enjoyed an amazing Sauvignon Blanc, dancing under white tents and a couple of hot dogs that were being sold on the premises.

Look Ma! I’m in print!!

30 Aug

I had the honor of joining my best friend Mollie – many of you know her as the fabulous MollieinSeattle – for a fun day of dress up and picture taking at Bellevue Scene Magazine for an editorial spread by Gabrielle Nomura.

The editorial was Retro Fabulous | What’s old is new in fashion and was a nod to past decade’s styles in our wardrobes of today.  The photos were taken by the extremely talented Chad Coleman and our makeup was done by the amazing Bryan Setzer.  Mollie and I styled our hair and outfits on our own.

I had the BEST time and the photos below show just a fraction of the fun I had with Mollie. It was my most favorite day with Mollie ever – and I’ve had some very fun days with that girl!

Chivalry is (goodness, I hope not!) dead.

29 Aug

Attention single gentlemen! This post is dedicated to you..especially those of you who  are out there attempting to navigate the wildly unknown and frustratingly difficult dating scene in Seattle.

I realize that most men would like to date a woman who is independent, driven, self-sufficient, successful and confident. Please know that these qualities in a woman do not equate to a lack of chivalry on the man’s part.  We’d still like to be treated like ladies.

So here are some very simple yet very chivalrous (and quite appreciated if I do say so myself) acts that will surely impress her on a date:

1.)  CALL a girl to make plans to set a date and time to meet up.  Yes I realize that text messaging is the communication channel of choice now a days for most people…present company included.  But phone calls are much more appreciated and it’s proof to us gals that you really do want to make plans with us.

2.)  Pull out chairs and open doors (car, building, airplane hangar).  You guys already know this – so do it!!

It's not old fashioned to open doors!!

3.)  Walk to the OUTSIDE of the sidewalk – always walk the lady to the inside.  I know that many of you are not aware of this one – but I’m bringing it back! I once dated a man who is a military officer and this was something they learned in a mandatory manners class while going through officer training.  I never knew about this little chivalrous act until he did it – and I just love it…as do most women!!

4.) Pay for dinner. This one you should also know. Yes an independent successful woman will pull out her wallet and take out her credit card but she’s waiting for you to say “Put that away – this is on me.”  Really, she is. She’s probably STILL waiting for you to say that, so now’s your big chance.

Pick up the check - at least the first couple of times out.

5.) Walk her to her car/ front door or wherever she happens to be going. At that point a hug goodbye will suffice.

**Bonus points: A text message to her at bit later saying you had a great time (but only if you REALLY did) and that you’d like to take her out again.

Now these tips may not lead to a next date, but I guarantee that you’ll at least get a smile out of the lady – which is really the whole point, right?

Welcome to the Emerald City, Gilt City!

4 Aug

On June 21st I had the privilege of receiving an invite from Ann Marie Ricard of Curator PR to welcome Gilt City to Seattle.  Gilt City  is a spin off the incredible flash sale site Gilt Groupe, offering the best deals right in your own city!  Gilt City Seattle offers some of the most incredible deals right here in the Emerald City that are exclusive to those who are signed up for Gilt City Seattle.  (That’s your signal to go sign up. Go. NOW!)

The launch party was held at the stunning establishment, Rover’s, here in Seattle… even though I felt like I was in a whole other world.  The courtyard at Rover’s is just lovely and it felt more like a park in Paris than a restaurant courtyard in Seattle.

And I must say that I was quite impressed with the crowd that came out for the evening. I’ve never before seen a better dressed group in Seattle and I felt as though everyone who was anyone was there!

What an amazing way to welcome an amazing company to our very lovely city!! Welcome, Gilt City Seattle – we’re so thrilled that you’re here!
